Statement on Lawsuit Concerning 1st Amendment Protections for Employees

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 29, 2025

Adams County, Colo. (January 29, 2025): The Adams County Sheriff’s Office acknowledges that the six-year-old case involving Sheriff Claps, Division Chief Currier, Commander Mitchell, and Retired Division Chief Coates has concluded. This case focused on protecting employees’ Constitutional Rights and not discriminating for political affiliation or political retaliation.

As it has always done, the Sheriff’s Office will continue to be a reliable and proactive agency that protects and serves the community equally. Our Agency will continue to collaborate with our communities to provide professional law enforcement services.
