What Is a Concealed Handgun Permit?

A Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) allows individuals to legally carry a concealed firearm in Colorado. Learn about eligibility, application requirements, and how to complete the process.

Schedule Your CHP Appointment

All concealed handgun permit sessions are by appointment only. New applicants may choose from the following time slots:

  • Morning Sessions:
    • 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
    • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Afternoon Sessions:
    • 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
    • 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Applicants may arrive at any time within their selected session window.

CHP Fee Information

All new applicants must pay the fee at the time of their appointment. We offer multiple payment methods for your convenience.

Standard Fee

  • New Permit: $152.50

Military Discount

  • $50 off the total fee with valid proof of military service.

Payment Methods

Each applicant must pay individually. Accepted forms of payment include:

  • Cash
  • Checks and Money Orders (Payable to Adams County Sheriff’s Office or ACSO)
  • Credit Cards (Additional processing fee applies)
