Divisions of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has seven Divisions. The Office of the Sheriff is led by Sheriff Gene Claps and Undersheriff Paul Gregory. The six remaining Divisions are led by Division Chiefs and a Director.

Detectives

The Detective Division investigates, apprehends, and prepares prosecution of criminal offenders for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

The division comprises the Crimes Against Persons Section, Crimes Against Property Section, Crime Lab, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Safe Street Task Force, Property and Evidence Unit, North Metro Task Force, and Victim Advocates.

Detention Facility

The Detention Facility Division is responsible for providing a safe and humane environment for persons incarcerated at the Adams County Detention Facility. Jail personnel manage the movement, behavior, and transportation of inmates.

The division consists of the following sections and units: Booking, Court Security, Civil Unit, Detectives, Transport, Bonding, Court Services, Programs, Jail Records, Supervised Release, and Technical Services.

Patrol

The Patrol Division provides law enforcement services, community policing, and traffic safety to the communities of unincorporated Adams County.

Tactical sections and units include Patrol, Plains, Traffic Safety Unit, DUI Enforcement, Motorcycle Unit, Juvenile Services Unit, SWAT, Mobile Field Force, K-9 Unit, Bomb Unit, Mounted Posse, Reserve Deputies, and the Community Resource Team.

The Professional Standards Division provides support and expertise in the areas of Community Relations and Public Information (PIO), Internal Affairs, Community Connection Team, Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Concealed Handgun Permits, Finance, Information Technology, Recruiting, Background Detectives, Government Center Security Unit, and Project Management.
