ACSO Hosted Yearly Events

Each Year the Sheriff’s Office hosts five events for the community.

Citizens Academy

The annual ACSO Citizens Academy is a seven-week, nine-class program that members of the community can take part in to learn the ins and outs of the Sheriff’s Office. Participants will learn about areas such as the Crime Lab, Patrol Division, Jail Division, and so much more. Participants will also get several hands-on opportunities to experience a little bit of what our Deputies experience.

Seniors and Youth Fishing Festivals

This annual event happens on the first Saturday in June each year, coinciding with Colorado State’s Free Fishing Day. Seniors (55+) and Youth (17 and under) fish throughout the day to earn prizes and just have fun. This event happens at Riverdale Regional Park.

Trunk or Treat

Each October, the different Divisions and Departments within the Sheriff’s Office come together at Clear Creek Valley Park to decorate their cars and vehicles, and invite residents to come and get candy and treats. This is a great event for all families and an opportunity for the community to see all of the different units within the Sheriff’s Office.

Operation Freebird

Annually, each November, Operation Freebird takes place on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving and is a community-wide event. This event brings together Food Bank of the Rockies, the Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Health and Human Services, and many other resources to members of our community who are in need.

Each December, ACSO teams up with Adams County Fire Rescue to host a Toy Drive. Both agencies collect toys and invite families in need to a toy distribution event at the ACFR Headquarters.
